When Vincenzo Ippolito established his winery in Cirò in 1845, the Bourbons still ruled Calabria—Italy would not be born for another 16 years. Today, the small venture that Vincenzo took great pride in has not only endured for nearly two centuries but has also grown into one of Calabria’s largest and most dynamic wineries: Ippolito 1845.
Currently, the winery is managed by Vincenzo, Gianluca, and Paolo Ippolito, who have successfully embraced generational change while implementing an ambitious investment plan that has revolutionised the company’s image.
The winery’s facilities have been modernised, the packaging completely renewed, but above all, significant work has been done in both the vineyard and the cellar.
The winery owns three estates covering a total of 100 hectares:
Cirò Rosso Cl. Sup. Colli del Mancuso Ris. 2021 – Ippolito 1845
In recent years, the wines of Ippolito 1845 have become increasingly precise, clean, and true to both their territory and grape varieties.
Among this year’s tasting selections, one wine stood out:
This wine was awarded Best Value-for-Money Wine in Calabria in the Berebene 2025 guide by Gambero Rosso.
Additionally, it earned the prestigious Due Bicchieri Rossi in the Vini d’Italia 2025 guide, having reached the finals during the tasting sessions.
